The 56^th A= nnual Meeting of North Arkansas Baptist Association was called to order at 3:30 p= .m. on October 24, 2006, at Eagle Heights Baptist Church, <= st1:City w:st=3D"on">Harrison, Arkansas. Moderator, Jack Searcy, called the meeting to order.

Tommy Turner, host pa= stor, welcomed the messengers and guests.

Mark Enloe, pastor at Bear Creek Springs Baptist Church, brought the scripture and prayer. Congregational singing was led by Richard Hunt.

Associational Clerk, Dorothy Hunt, made a motion that the “elected messengers from the churches be seated at this the 56^th annual meeting of NABA.” Motion carried.<= o:p>

A motion was made to = adopt the program as printed. Motion carried.

A motion was brought = by Missions Development Team chairman, Tommy Turner, to honor the request from= Newton County Baptist Church for $500 fromthe Pippin Fund to assist the chur= ch in building cabinets inside their building. Motion carried.<= /p>

Following congregatio= nal singing, Anna Schwarz sang, “I Saw The Mas= ter This Morning.”

Bill Vondermehden, director of the Arkansas Baptist Boys Ranch, reported on the AR Baptist Children’s Homes.

Tommy Thompson spoke = about the Mission Service Corp work in Arkansas.

Baptist Collegiate re= ports were given by Barbara Searcy, NorthAR College, Harrison and Lynn Loyd, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

Associational Mission= ary, Royce Sweatman, gave a powerpoint<= /span> presentation on the summer 2006 youth event, Jerusalem Changers. He also reported that our 2006 Sun= day School average attendance total was 3692, and our total baptisms were= 454 . While Bro= ther Royce was giving this information a powerpoint = was running showing some pictures of baptisms in our churches.   Forty four of our fifty six churches had a Vacation Bible School with an enrollment of 3798 and 181 professions of faith.

The following pastors retired this year -   Fre= ddy Blevins at Blue Eye, First , Bob Eubanks at Diamond City , Manual Macks at Jasper First.

New pastors are Darryl Harris, Freeman Heights, Berryville, Jonathan Cresswell at Diamond City, Jim Wessels at Parth= enon.

The evening meal was prepared by Disaster Relief volunteers using our new unit.

The Time, Place and Preacher committee recommended that the 57^th Annual Meeting be h= eld October 23, 2007 at First Baptist Church, Harrison, with Morris Chapman as speaker= . Alternate speaker will be Sonny Tu= cker.

In the form of a motion, the following resolutions are presented to the messengers of the 56^th Annual Meeting of the No= rth Arkansas Baptist Convention.

   &= nbsp;      Whereas the members of Eagle Heights Baptist Church have graciously hosted th= is 56^th annual meeting of the North Arkansas Baptist Association, be it resolved= that the messengers and churches of the 56^th Annual Meeting of t= he North Arkansas Baptist Association gratefully acknowledge the hospitality o= f Eagle Heights Baptist Church and extend our appreciation for their hospitality.

   &nbs= p;    Whereas the great commission commands that= we go into all the world and make disciples, and Whereas God’s Holy = Word commands that we work until Jesus comes, and Whereas Jesus stated in Matthew 9:37-38, “The harvest is plentifu= l, but the workers are few. “Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to se= nd out workers into His harvest,”, and Whereas the Southern Baptist Convention, Arkansas Baptist State Convention and the North Arkansas Baptist Association have developed opportunities for people of faith to reach the peoples of the world, be it resolved that the people of the North Arkansas Baptist Association rise to the call of our Lord and go into the fields of the harvest by becoming actively involved in missions. Be it furt= her resolved that the people of the North Arkansas Baptist Association also pray for laborers to go into the fields of harvest. Be it finally resolved th= at the people of the North Arkansas Baptist Association demonstrate their beli= ef in scripture by accomplishing the Acts 1:8 Challenge of reaching their Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the outer most parts of the Earth.

Whereas each church of the North Arkansas Baptist Association is planted in a local community and each church have members who live in the same communities. Whereas in Matthew 5:13-16, Jesus proclaims that we are Salt and Light to the world= in which they live, be it resolved that the churches of the North Arkan= sas Baptist Association develop a strategy to impact the community where they l= ive.

Whereas our time in history is experiencing the growth= and spread of disasters. Whereas disasters are appearing in closer proximity to our state and community. Whereas= the North Arkansas Baptist Association has developed a disaster relief plan= and has procured a disaster response feeding unit, be it resolved that t= he people of the North Arkansas Baptist Association support and maintain the disaster relief unit. Be it further resolved that the same people be= come involved in the association’s disaster relief efforts by participatin= g in training and certification opportunities. Be it finally resolved that the same people engage in disaster relief opportunities so that by meeting = the human need through feeding, rebuilding and encouraging, the Arkansas Baptist Association, through its members, we will then be able to meet the spiritual need by sharing the gospel with those effected by disaster.

“Co= mmunity Impact” is the theme for 2007. Bro. Sweatman challenged the churches to “impact their community” by starting new ministries, etc.

Bro. Swea= tman showed pictures of the new Disaster Relief Unit. The Association is looking to buy a “box” truck to pull the unit and also a small acreage to build a barn to house the unit and the generator /trailer.

Jack McCa= rty, youth team leader, shared information for the youth events scheduled for 2007. March 30 – Equipp= ing Youth Leaders training, May 30-June 2 – Jerusalem Changers, Sept. 7-8 – Student Leadership Training Session I, September 28-30 – Fall Focus, Camp War Eagle, Decemb= er 27-29 – Student Leadership Training Session II. He also gave information of the associational link up in Mexico for youth and adults.

Bro. Swea= tman ask some churches to share how their church is meeting= the needs of the people around their church.&n= bsp; Cocky Barrett reported on the Free Medical Clinic at First Baptist Church, H= arrison. Ruth St= romlund reported on the their outreach in rural Newton County= . They became acquainted with the co= mmunity by giving free clothing, holding VBS, youth meetings an= d the AWANA program. Madeline Jackson reported on the “Ozark Christian Cowboy” ministry started by Grandview Baptist Church in Carroll County. Phyllis Efaw<= /span> reported on the community ministries provided by Searcy County Baptist Church in = Marshall. These ministries include providing= a breakfast on Sunday morning, VBS, Angel Ministries, and a “Coat Ministry.”
