NABA Disaster Relief Unit

North Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief Mission Statment.

Matthew 25:35 motivates us to serve that we may give “a cup of cold water in Jesus’ name.” A disaster hits suddenly and with it the opportunity for immediate ministry. No area of mission action requires more rapid response than disaster relief. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is Christian love in action, meeting urgent needs in crisis situations.

The Arkansas Baptist State Convention’s Disaster Relief ministry continues to be an outreach to people and communities that struggle with the effects of disasters. Disaster Relief volunteers provide ministries such as: Feeding, Showers, Chainsaw, Blue Tarp, and Communications. Arkansas has over 1,200 volunteers who show Christ’s love by providing for the needs of those who have been affected by disaster. Along with you help we can minister to more.

The North Arkansas Baptist Association is one of two Supplemental Units within Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief and we
provide the following services:

• Mass Feeding for recovery workers and disaster victims,
• Shower and Laundry for recovery workers.

Disaster Relief Training

We will conduct an "Introduction to Feeding and Recovery" training for new volunteers, and will conduct Feeding, Recovery, and Chaplaincy training at each training event. We are requiring that every volunteer attend at least ONE training event a year. Update volunteers will have additional classes they must attend. Please invite your volunteers to attend one of the below trainings. New volunteers must be an active member of a Southern Baptist church. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,
I wanted to take a moment to send a letter to the church body to give you some words of encouragement during these very challenging months as America and the world continue to struggle with economic hardships and disasters one after another.

During all the disasters your NABA Disaster Relief (DR) has stood ready and able to respond. The cost of keeping our units ready is enormous. Our DR Unit is not a budgeted item; this has been the case for years. It has always been funded by the generous gifts of donors. We are now in need of your help.

This economy has probably affected the "bottom line" in most of our lives in some way, yet we are desperately asking for a special offering to be taken up on August 14th for our Disaster Relief Team. The need is so great, and we are depending on your love for our Lord and Savior, to give from your heart.

We would also ask for someone in your church to speak (10 or 15 minutes) about the Disaster Relief Team and the work they have done and are doing. If you do not have a speaker, please let us know and we’ll try to get a “Blue Hat” to come speak at your church. Call: (870)715-0830
